Fat Flush Diet by Anne Louise Gittleman - A Modern Day Detox Program

The developer of Fat Flush diet, registered nutritionist Anne Louise Gittleman believes in the importance of cleansing the systems in the body of toxins and harmful bacteria. In our age and time, foods have become so glutted with either sodium or fat that Gittleman was inspired to design a modern-day detox program.

In the book, the Fat Flush Plan, Anne Louise provides an explanation on 5 hidden contributors to weight gain. These factors are:

1. Exuberance of insulin and stress

2. Fear of consuming fats

3. Food sensitivities

4. Water-clogged tissues

5. Liver Health

The principle of Fat Flush diet is to eat whole and natural foods without the salt content. Admittedly, Gittleman's diet is a strict program. However, it teaches people on the significance of eating the right foods to initiate the weight loss process. The foods recommended on her book are also best for people's health. The foods that are forbidden on Anne's detox diet are the following:

1. Margarine

2. Caffeine

3. Diet sodas

4. Alcohol

5. Sugar

6. Yeast related vinegar

7. Herbs and spices with the exception of those that are clearly defined on the book

8. Grains

9. Aspartame

10. Bread

There are three phases on this weight loss program. The first phase is the cleansing period. Before starting on this phase, people are directed to stop eating garbage foods. The detox phase lasts from 1 week to 2 weeks and the calorie value is set at 1100-1200. The goal is to lose the belly fat or to minimize bloating. Most foods listed above are prohibited during this phase. Some say that people can stay on this phase if they want to lose 25 pounds. Health experts say that the safe duration is one month.

During this phase, dieters can enjoy a cranberry water with flaxseeds or psyllium husks and 8 ounces of hot water mixed with lemon juice before breakfast. Now, the breakfast consists of scrambled eggs mixed with vegetables and one glass of cranberry water. The mid-morning snack consists of half of a large grapefruit and another glass of cranberry-water mixture. During lunchtime, the foods to enjoy are vegetables, salmon with lemon and garlic, a side-salad with flaxseed oil and one glass of cranberry-flavored water.

In the afternoon, snack is allowed with an apple and a glass of cranberry-flavored water. Twenty minutes upon enjoying the dinner, another glass of cranberry-flavored water must be consumed again. For dinner, nothing beats the sumptuousness of turkey with mushrooms, spaghetti squash with flaxseed oil.

In the second phase of a Flush diet, the calorie value is raised to 1,200 to 1,500. Its goal is to continue with the regimen until such time when the desired weight goal is achieved. Finally, the last phase is the maintenance period. Its calorie value is set at 1,500 and certain starchy carbohydrates are slowly re-introduced together with gluten-free grains and other dairies.
